André Ventura wanted to see the tents and improvised spaces again, where dozens of immigrants who were unable to obtain asylum status in Portugal have lived for several weeks. The leader of Chega, however, did not speak to any of the people who live there.

André Ventura toughens his speech and guarantees that he wants to expel illegal and homeless immigrants from the country who have been staying the night for several weeks in Anjos, in Lisbon. “If they are illegal, they have to be” [expulsos]”, replies the leader of Chega, who walked around the area around the Church without speaking to anyone.

The only people who are greeted have no idea who the politician is, nor what he stands for in front of journalists’ microphones.

Chega wants to make the employment contract a criterion for entering Portugal, although there are those who do not have access to cell phones or computers to be able to look for work in Portugal.

“They have to have something. They have to have at least the promise of an employment contract” (…) I’m very sorry, but a country cannot open its doors like that”, says Ventura.

The criteria could have been discussed with those who experience the situation firsthand, but André Ventura ended the visit 13 minutes after starting it.
