Cape Green – From today onwards, tickets for the British airline are on sale low cost easyJet, which in October begins connecting Cape Verde and Portugal. It will be the first company low cost traveling to Cape Verde and the first time in West Africa.

After two years of negotiations between the Government of Cape Verde, through the Ministry of Tourism and Transport, and easyJet, the airline’s flights were announced low cost to Cape Verde. From October 29th, easyJet will start operating flights from Lisbon and Porto to the island of Sal, having made available 50,000 seats for the entire IATA winter from October to March. On his Facebook page, the Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, said that this initiative fulfills a desire and expectation that the Government hopes will have a positive impact on strengthening Cape Verde’s position in the tourist market and diversifying the offer for Cape Verdean citizens in the country and in the diaspora through flights low cost. Speaking to Cape Verdean public television, the general director of easyJet in Portugal, José Lopes, said that Cape Verde is an excellent destination for the airline ‘low cost‘ easyJet.
“Cape Verde is a choice that goes back to an old relationship. We have been in talks for more than two years with the Government of Cape Verde. It is a destination that has an appetite for scenic beauty, warmth, its people, its culture, which is unmatched. It also meets the requirements that EasyJet constantly seeks for winter sun and, in this case, the additional one that is also summer sun. It is sun all year round. It is an extremely attractive destination for our customers” said José Lopes.
From Portugal to Cape Verde, easyJet will have 4 weekly frequencies (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) from Lisbon and 2 weekly frequencies (Wednesdays and Saturdays) from Porto, throughout the year. The island of Sal becomes the southernmost point to which the company flies so far and also marks its debut in West Africa.
