The public presentation will take place on three dates and in different locations: this Saturday, May 11th, at the Grutas de Mira de Aire threshing floor, in the municipality of Porto de Mós; and next weekend, May 18th and 19th, respectively, at the Casal Vieira threshing floor, in São Mamede, Batalha, and at the Casal do Monte Museum, in Monte Redondo, Leiria.

Project activities “Battendor in waves against the dark night”, which seeks to revive traditions and customs, around a ceramic oven, with stories, sounds and typical food, occupying the period between 11 am and 9 pm.

Tomorrow, at 11 am, according to the program published by O Nariz Teatro, the construction of the paper oven will begin, followed by, at 1 pm, a lunch in which both participants and the public can taste, for example, black pudding and tortullos from Mira de Aire or grilled rice black puddings from São Mamede.

During the afternoon, a moment of stories and traditions is planned, starting at 2:30 pm, before sharing different sounds with the participation of the public and sound recordings captured previously (from 5 pm onwards).

The opening of the oven should take place at 8 pm and throughout the day illustrative photographs and audio recordings of the artistic intervention process will be displayed, aimed at small rural communities in territories with low population density, where there is a risk of the disappearance of rooted traditions and customs over time.

Batendin waves against the dark night”, which O Nariz Teatro leads, is a project financed by the Municipality of Leiria and has partnerships with CasaSiphioni, Trupêgo (Porto de Mós) and Alguidar (Batalha), and a team in which include Pedro Oliveira, Vitória Condeço, José Paulo Siphioni, Paulo Simões, Hugo Wittmann, Sandra Sousa, Nuno Rancho and Liliana Gonçalves.

The information collection methodology, according to O Nariz, aims to identify artisanal production methods in the area of ​​pottery, their production strategies, the crafts associated with ceramics and their techniques and skills, which have often been passed down from generation to generation. .

The objectives are to involve the entire community in the creative process and its public presentation, around the creation of fired ceramic pieces.

In addition to focusing on the work, modeling and firing of clay using the paper oven, the project aims to bring together oral tradition content, such as pagan and religious tales, legends and fables, litanies and tongue twisters, riddles and proverbs, and the modes of bodily expression that are part of the local imaginary.
