ASAE seizes more than seven tons of food in the districts of Aveiro and Viseu

The Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) seized more than seven tons of food in two wholesale, preparation and storage establishments, located in the districts of Aveiro and Viseu.

At issue is non-compliance with food storage and handling conditions, according to a statement from ASAE.

The foods seized were mostly products that require controlled temperatures, such as yogurts, cheeses, cold cuts, frozen fish products, etc.

The estimated value of the seized products is 61,500 euros.

The activity, according to ASAE, was being carried out without the respective mandatory Veterinary Control Number (NCV) authorization, “still finding several foodstuffs without presenting the respective mandatory labeling and without having the identification mark of the last establishment affixed who manipulated them”, the statement reads.

Two administrative offense proceedings were also initiated, “and the suspension of activity of the establishment located in the district of Aveiro was also determined for not having the NCV legally required for activity”.
