“2 Wheels: Hold on to Life” campaign records two fatalities in Beja

The Road Safety Campaign “2 Wheels: Hold on to Life”, took place between the 19th and 24th of March and aimed to alert drivers, particularly those with two motor wheels, to drive safely, complying with the rules of the Highway Code and avoiding risky behavior.

These include driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and incorrect use of safety devices. Of the total of 3.4 million vehicles inspected during the campaign, 18.8 thousand infractions were recorded, 2,034 accidents, resulting in 8 fatal victims, all male, aged between 23 and 67, two of them from the district of Beja, 35 seriously injured and 573 slightly injured. Compared to the same period in 2023, there were 67 fewer accidents, 3 more fatalities, 7 fewer serious injuries and 3 more minor injuries.

The Road Safety Campaign “2 Wheels: Hold on to Life” is the responsibility of the National Road Safety Authority (ANSR), the National Republican Guard (GNR) and the Public Security Police (PSP).
