Restaurant reservations in Braga soar during Holy Week this year

TheFork, a restaurant reservation platform in Europe, indicates that there is an 82% increase in
reservations for this year’s Holy Week in Braga, compared to last year.

There was a “significant growth of 21% in reserves” nationwide. Although Lisbon and Porto lead the total number of reservations, in absolute numbers, with 54% and 22%, respectively, it is important to highlight the “remarkable growth” in other cities in the country.

Santarém recorded an impressive increase of 233%, followed by Leiria with 103%, Setúbal with 102%, Aveiro with 96% and Braga with 82%.

In relation to average spending, in 2024, the platform estimates that the Portuguese will want to spend 25 euros per person on meals, representing 14% of reservations made so far.

63% of total reservations made were for dinner. Additionally, the most popular days to book a restaurant during this period are Saturday, Friday and Thursday for dinner, followed by Sunday for lunch.

This pattern reveals the Portuguese people’s intention to enjoy special moments with family and friends throughout the festive period, making the most of meals in good company”, says TheFork.

In terms of types of cuisine, Portuguese restaurants continue to be the favorites, followed by Mediterranean, Italian, international and traditional fish and seafood restaurants.
