Daily

Thermal resort in the municipality of Tondela received 637 visitors in 2023

The Sangemil Hot Springs in Lajeosa do Dão, in the municipality of Tondela, reopen next Tuesday (2 April) for another bathing season. This year, the resort opens again shortly after Easter and will be open until November 30th.

Before reopening, the spa underwent maintenance work and underwent minor repairs. Tondela City Council says that maintenance was carried out so that everything is ready in time for the thermal season, “safely and in the proper conditions”.

In 2023, the Sangemil Baths received 637 visitors, the majority (468) to perform therapeutic cures. 169 treatments linked to well-being were also carried out in the complex.

The thermal space treats rheumatological and musculoskeletal diseases, as well as pathologies related to the respiratory tract. The spa offers ‘vichy’ or dry massages and jet or circular showers, among other treatments.

The waters are collected at a depth of around 100 meters and at a temperature of 49 degrees. The current thermal complex opened to the public in 1994, but the sulfur waters have been used for therapeutic effects for three centuries.
