Marvel Studios boss didn’t want Jackman to return to the role initially

The return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the Marvel universe caused doubts in Kevin Feige, the head of the studio. In an interview with Empire magazine, Feige revealed that he asked the actor not to return to play the character in Deadpool & Wolverineas he believed the mutant had met a satisfactory end in Logan (2017).

“I said, ‘Let me give you some advice, Hugh. Do not come back'”, Kevin Feige recalled in conversation with Empire. The boss of Marvel Studios then explained why he was hesitant about bringing Wolverine back to theaters:

“You had the best ending ever with Logan. This is not something we should undo.”

Despite initial fears, Jackman ended up accepting the proposal to take on Wolverine’s clutches once again, something that may surprise fans as the mutant will not be exactly the same Logan we know from the X-Men films.
