At the age of 71, Jos Cardoso Pires suffers a stroke, losing the ability to relate to the world. Surrounded by translucent figures with whom he is unable to communicate because, despite being a writer, he does not recognize words and cannot even articulate them with any connection, he apathetically contemplates the consternation of family and friends.
His wife Edite remains by his side, accompanying him in his concrete life, extending her hand as if to escort him through the labyrinth of his own mind. Places, situations and characters merge in a mix of real life, fiction and memory in a bright and almost shadowless world. In the right hemisphere of his brain, as if coming from the “wolf of imagination”, surreal and fantastic characters appear that send mysterious signals for Cardoso Pires to find himself again.
On the other side, in the left hemisphere, there is the “wolf of reality” where family members, doctors, hospital staff and patients try to bring the writer to reality with perseverance, hoping that he will recognize himself again. Everyone seems to challenge the famous author to write a new book that narrates his adventure by telling a “last story”, the most definitive of his entire career, that of his involuntary journey through the territory of white shadows.
