Harry Potter series could solve 25-year-old mystery

Max’s Harry Potter series has the chance to expand on certain characters and plots from the books. The remake also has the opportunity to answer a question from The Prisoner of Azkaban that has been on people’s minds since the book’s release in 1999.

Although the Harry Potter saga released its last film in 2011, the magical universe is still alive with the upcoming series adaptation.

Despite having already been announced by Warner, the television reboot of Harry Potter is still in the early stages of conception. Therefore, little is known about the project.

The controversial JK Rowling will act as executive producer of the series, and it seems that each season of the production will adapt one of the author’s books.

Check out, below, how the Harry Potter series could end a mystery in the franchise.

The Marauder’s Map

Plot hole in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban introduces the Marauders and their story – and also brings the expertly crafted Marauder’s Map into the story. The Marauder’s Map shows all the entrances and exits to Hogwarts, as well as where everyone in the castle is at any given time.

Fred and George give Harry the map in The Prisoner of Azkaban, but neither realizes its connection to his father. They also, conveniently, never notice Peter Pettigrew hanging around Hogwarts.

While Fred and George may not have an interest in every person on the map, it’s surprising that they didn’t notice a famously dead wizard hanging around their brother.

Pettigrew disguises himself as Ron’s mouse Wormtail in the early Harry Potter books and films – but Remus Lupine discovers the truth about his old friend after confiscating the Marauder’s Map.

With Pettigrew even appearing as an Animagus, it’s shocking that no one realized he was alive before. This is one of the biggest plot holes in The Prisoner of Azkaban, and it’s still hard to understand years later.

Although Harry and Ron probably weren’t frequently looking at each other on the Marauder’s Map – although their inability to notice Pettigrew’s name is also questionable – Fred and George would almost certainly have used it to spy on their younger brother and his classmates.

The Harry Potter series needs to reveal why they didn’t notice the known wizard’s name on the map. Alternatively, the HBO series could offer a plausible reason for them to ignore his presence.

All films in the Harry Potter saga are available on Max.
