Bill Kramerthe new CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, indicated that all categories of Oscar will be performed again during the ceremony live from 2023. In a new interview with the Academy’s official website, he explained his vision for the awards.

“In 2023, we have the 95th Academy Awards, and the energy around the show needs to be one of celebration of cinema and the awards – our legacy, our artists, our films, our future. We’re already hard at work with the folks at Disney- ABC at the ceremony. I would love to see all artistic and scientific disciplines honored during the ceremony“, he declared.

I further predict that we will see many past Oscar winners on stage, in addition to “iconic victory celebrations from the last 95 years“, Kramer defined the 2023 Oscars as “an opportunity to celebrate the union of our legacy, the powerful and diverse work we do at the Academy, and our vision of the future“.

At the 2022 Oscars, eight of the 23 award categories were not presented during the live ceremony: Best Editing, Best Original Score, Best Documentary Short Film, Best Animated Short Film, Best Live Action Short Film, Best sound, better makeup and hairstyles, and better costumes.

The winners of these categories were announced at a pre-ceremony that took place just before the televised show. The winners’ speeches were shown, in edited versions, during breaks in the main Oscar ceremony.

The Oscars 2023 takes place in March 12.
