The month of May is approaching and Disney+ is full of news!

If you’re a fan of Doctor Who or Star Wars, you can’t miss the news that will premiere in May, but not only that. This streaming platform will also celebrate two iconic bands: the Beatles and the Beach Boys.

SHARDLAKE

From May 1st, “Shardlake”, a series based on the historical novels by CJ Sansom, arrives on Disney+.

The plot follows the story of lawyer Matthew Shardlake who sees his life turned upside down when Thomas Cromwell sends him to a monastery in Scarnsea to investigate a suspicious death. Shardlake will discover that this is not the first murder to happen in that monastery and finds himself drawn into a web of lies, deceit and corruption that will put his life at risk.

The cast includes Arthur Hughes (“Then Barbara Met Alan”, “The Innocents”), Anthony Boyle (“Tolkien”, “Masters of the Air”), Sean Bean (“Game of Thrones”, “The Lord of the Rings – The Fellowship of the Ring”), Babou Ceesay (“We Hunt Together”, “Into the Badlands”), Ruby Ashbourne Serkis (“The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey”, “The Letter For The King”) and Peter Firth (“Spooks : For a Greater Good”, “Victoria”).


STAR WARS: LEGENDS OF THE EMPIRE

To celebrate Star Wars Day, May 4th, a new animated series from the saga premieres on Disney+.

This will have just six episodes during the Empire where we follow the story of two people: young Morgan Elsbeth lost everything and now navigates the expanding imperial world to get her revenge; Former Jedi Barriss Offee does what she can to survive in a changing galaxy.

The original cast features the voices of Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter saga, “The Crowded Room”), Lars Mikkelsen (“The Witcher”, “The Killing”), Meredith Salenger (“Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, “A Girl from a Dream”) and Diana Lee Inosanto (“Ahsoka”, “The Mandalorian”).


THE BEATLES: LET IT BE

On May 8th, something new arrives for Beatles fans on Disney+! After the series restored by Peter Jackson (director of the “Lord of the Rings” trilogy and “The Hobbit” trilogy), “The Beatles: Get Back”, comes the restored version of a film about the iconic Liverpool band that reached the cinemas in 1970, after the band’s separation.

Viewers will see behind the scenes and the performance of the Beatles, this became their last group performance, when they came together to write and record the album “Let It Be”.


DOCTOR WHO

For the first time, the new season of “Doctor Who” with the new Time Lord arrives on Disney+ on May 11th.

After four special episodes also available on Disney+, where we saw the return of David Tennant as the Doctor and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, and the debut of Ncuti Gatwa (“Barbie”, “Sex Education”) as the new reiteration of the Time Lord .

This new Doctor finds a new companion and they travel through space and time, with various adventures from Regency England to war-torn futures. Of course, not everything is a bed of roses and enemies will emerge.

In addition to Gatwa, we have Millie Gibson (“Coronation Street”) as her companion, however it will only be for one season as her departure has been confirmed.


THE BEACH BOYS

Another band will be celebrated on Disney+ during the month of May, the Beach Boys. This documentary follows the band’s journey from its humble beginnings and features interviews with its members: Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, David Marks and Bruce Johnston.

This band revolutionized pop music and became the embodiment of the Californian dream, captivating generations.
