Britney Spears and her father, Jamie, ended the legal dispute over the singer’s guardianship after two and a half years this Saturday (27).

The father’s guardianship over the singer was terminated in 2021 and the two then entered into a series of battles over legal fees and allegations of inappropriate management of the guardianship. Her father always denied the allegations.

As a result, the two are no longer expected to face each other in court. A new trial, on the allegation of financial misconduct in the singer’s career during the conservatorship, was scheduled for May, according to the newspaper “The New York Times”.

Lawyers for both sides told People magazine that the father and daughter reached a settlement for an undisclosed amount in Los Angeles Superior Court.

“Although the conservatorship ended in November 2021, her desire for freedom is now truly complete,” Spears’ attorney Mathew S. Rosengart said in a statement sent to the publication.

“As she wished, her freedom now includes the fact that she no longer needs to appear or engage in court or engage in legal proceedings in this matter.”

“Britney Spears won when the court suspended her father, and Britney Spears won when her fundamental rights and civil liberties were restored,” Rosengart said.

Jamie’s attorney, Alex Weingarten, said the two parties “have reached an agreement that resolves all outstanding disputes.”

“I cannot comment on specific details as the settlement is confidential. Jamie is thrilled that this is all behind him. He loves his daughter very much and everything he did was to protect and support her,” Weingarten said in a statement on a statement to “People” magazine.

“It’s a shame that some irresponsible people in Britney’s life chose to drag this out for so long.”

As a result of this agreement, the two will no longer face trial for alleged financial misconduct during their conservatorship. According to The New York Times, the trial was scheduled to begin in May.

Britney was placed under a court-ordered conservatorship in 2008, with her father serving as her guardian for most of the 13-year arrangement, overseeing and controlling all of his adult daughter’s finances and medical decisions.
