Maria Solange Amorim, from Ceará, who unintentionally went viral on the internet dancing to a Madonna song in a bar in Manaus, will meet the queen of pop in person, at the show that the singer will perform in Brazil on May 4, in Rio de Janeiro.
She even recorded a commercial for the bank that sponsors the singer’s show. “Today I’m here at Estúdio Itaú, where I’m making a recording with this wonderful team. I’m counting on you at Madonna’s show,” she says in the video shared on X (formerly Twitter).
The story is quite strong and moving. In 2020, at the age of 54, Maria Solange was homeless in Manaus, suffering from acute drug addiction. She had just lost her 24-year-old son, who was murdered. Upon entering a bar in the capital of Amazonas, the woman from Ceará asked for music to be played in memory of her son. And, by chance, the song chosen was one she loved: “Holiday”, by Madonna.
The dance was so visceral that the video went viral and even reached Madonna herself, who, in turn, reposted it. “Are you feeling hopeless today? Does life seem like one bad news after another? Does the apocalypse seem to be near? I think many of us feel the same way. On days like these, we just have to turn up the music and dance,” the singer wrote.
In the publication, Madonna also appealed to someone close to her to help the woman. From then on, Solange received help from a social project and was recovering at a clinic in Araçoiaba da Serra, in the interior of São Paulo. She regained contact with her family and upon leaving recovery, she moved to a sister’s house in Fortaleza. Currently, the Ceará native lives in Guarulhos, São Paulo.
