Throughout her 40-year career as a singer, a date celebrated on The Celebration Tour, which will have its final performance in Copacabana next Saturday (4), Madonna was also present in Brazilian soap operas. There were only four plots included with songs chosen to accompany the story. “Final Feliz” (1982), “A Gata Comeu” (1985), “Hipertension” (1987) and “Pérola Negra” (1998) were the serials with the singer’s songs. But it was during one of these plots that the diva had her song banned from being broadcast on TV.

The unusual episode took place on the international album of “A gata comeu”. In addition to playing in the soap opera, the song “Crazy for you” was released as the third track on the album. But the song had to be removed from the scenes and never played in the plot again.

Additionally, the soundtrack LPs had to be removed from store shelves. But what happened to this decision?

The Brazilian representatives of the Warner record company had released the song, but the international representatives did not approve of its inclusion on the LP and in the audiovisual work. In its place was “Smooth operator”, by Sade.

Thirteen years later, “Crazy for you” was heard again, this time in some scenes from “Pérola Negra”, on SBT.

Madonna’s first song in a soap opera was “Everybody”, in “Final Feliz”, in 1983. Two years later, it was possible to hear the singer’s voice in some chapters of “A gata comeu”, with “Crazy for you”. In 1987 it was “Hipertension”‘s turn to receive the song “Papa don’t preach”.

By coincidence, there were three novels written by Ivani Ribeiro. In 1998, SBT chose “Crazy for You” to cover some scenes from “Pérola Negra”
