The Californian band Avenged Sevenfold has been active for over 20 years and performs for large audiences. However, the talented group has already performed in front of tiny audiences, as recalled by bassist Johnny Christ, who participated in The Jesea Lee Show and spoke about the day Avenged played in front of less than a dozen people.

According to a transcript published on the Metal Hammer magazine website, the show mentioned by Johnny was held in a bar in Hamburg (Germany), during the tour to promote the album “City Of Evil”, released in 2005.

“We had gone to continental Europe for the first time. At that point, I think we already had the success of ‘City Of Evil’. ‘City Of Evil’ had just been released and we were blowing up in the United States. We had to go there and do a show. That was in 2005”, recalled Christ, who gave more details about the “unforgettable” show.

“We played in a place [pensando]: ‘Ah, yes, it’s going to be a big crowd’, and it was a bar with 10 people. We hadn’t done that in a few years. We showed up at the time still wearing makeup, with our fog machines, we were on top of the world at that moment. We were quickly humiliated in that bar. I’m sure people left. I think it started with 10 and ended with five people.

It wasn’t like this was the first show we’d done. We were making a name for ourselves in other parts of the world, but they still weren’t liking it”, concluded Christ, who will perform with his band at Rock In Rio 2024. Certainly, they will perform a show for much more than 10 people.
