Eduardo Paes, mayor of Rio de Janeiro, hinted that singer Bruno Mars’ shows will take place in the city after a controversy that led to the suspension of ticket sales. The mayor of the wonderful city wrote on the X network, on Thursday night (May 9), the phrase ‘Habemus Bruno Mars’ and excited fans.

The mayor’s speech comes one day after Eduardo denied authorization for the tour in the capital of Rio de Janeiro on October 4th and 5th. The time coincides with municipal elections in the country which, for Paes, would be ‘absurd’.

A meeting between Eduardo Paes and Live Nation, the producer responsible for Bruno Mars’ shows in Brazil, would have taken place this Thursday afternoon (09). The mayor had already stated that the tour could take place in Rio, but on other days. The new show dates have not yet been announced.

Tickets for the performance on October 4th are already sold out and were sold out within hours on Wednesday (08th). Sales of the extra show, on the 5th, which would start this Thursday (09), were suspended by Live Nation following Eduardo Paes’ statement.

Live Nation’s latest statement about the Bruno Mars show said that the producer was seeking an agreement with the city:

“Live Nation Brasil has a successful historic partnership with the City of Rio de Janeiro, producing several major tours over the years. Regarding Bruno Mars’ shows in the city, there was a misunderstanding in communication with the City of Rio de Janeiro, which is already being resolved together, in order to arrive at the best solution for fans regarding the shows on October 4th and 5th”, said a statement.

Ticket sales for the shows in São Paulo and Brasília continue normally.
