Air traffic suspended at Lisbon airport after incident with private plane

Flights are being diverted to Porto and Faro

Planes cannot take off or land at Lisbon airport after a tire burst on the landing gear of a private aircraft upon arrival in Lisbon. As this device was immobilized on the runway, air traffic was suspended at 17:14 and will remain so until the situation with this device is resolved.

A source from ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal tells CNN Portugal that efforts are being made to remove the aircraft in question from the runway as quickly as possible. In the meantime, the planes that were supposed to land in Lisbon are being diverted to Porto and Faro.

By 18:50 there were 19 flights that had been diverted.
