“Good luck”: Ventura reinforces that “Montenegro chose the PS” and assumes himself as leader of the opposition

-

“Good luck to the PSD and the PS”, André Ventura said goodbye at the end of the ceremony, because he was not supposed to appear at Palácio da Ajuda, and attend the inauguration of Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and the new Government. However, being present, and with the absence of socialist leader Pedro Nuno Santos, he occupied the vacuum in the political space of this late afternoon, to position himself as the true leader of the opposition. Goal? Return to push the PSD into the arms of the PS, after an appeal from the prime minister to the socialists – and not Chega – to make the Government viable until the end of the legislature.

A week after the turbulence caused by the blockade of the election of the President of the Assembly of the Republic – which forced the PSD to seek the support of the PS –, the Chega leader took a more positive stance. Or ironic. Even after hearing Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa praise the victory of the moderates against the radicals in the right-wing “hemisphere”, André Ventura praised the speech of the President of the Republic, but also the from the prime minister: “I think he had a positive speech”he told journalists at the end of the inauguration ceremony.
