Villas-Boas will take office as president of FC Porto on Tuesday, the 7th, but then he will have to wait at least another three weeks for the general meeting (AG) of shareholders that will elect him as president of SAD. The only way to speed up the legal deadlines was for Pinto da Costa to resign, allowing Villas-Boas to be co-opted into the SAD until the definitive election. This was the solution adopted at Sporting, in 2018, when Sousa Cintra left his position to join Frederico Varandas just four days after being elected president of the lions.
Pinto da Costa, however, doesn’t even want to hear about resigning. The acting president always said during the campaign that he would not turn his back on the club even if he was not re-elected.
“It depends a little on people’s humility to understand. The partners dictated a resounding victory and there is no absolute reason for these people to continue to be in office”, complained Villas-Boas this Wednesday, at the entrance to a game of women’s volleyball, at Dragão Arena, where he was separated from Pinto da Costa by a balcony (each on its own floor). The president-elect wants his financial director, Pereira da Costa, to be co-opted into the SAD this Thursday.
