“Making the main team is a dream”, admits the 18-year-old from Felgueirense who is inspired by Adán

This Saturday, Sporting formalized the renewal of the contract with goalkeeper Diogo Pinto. The 18-year-old from Felgueirense has been with the club since 2017/18 and extends his contract until 2026.
“Renewing is a sign of confidence on the part of the club, as well as a feeling of great responsibility on my part. Sporting is satisfied with me and I want to stay here for many more years and respond in the best way”, says Diogo Pinto, quoted by the media. Sporting officials, before promising to “continue to give everything in training and games, whatever the team, and to do what the coaches ask”.
With 2 games in the under-19 (Youth League), 17 in the under-23 (Liga Revelação and respective opening tournament) and 4 in the B team (Liga 3), the young goalkeeper has been a frequent presence in the work of the first team and, in fact, he was part of Rúben Amorim’s squad for the match against Arsenal, in London. The goal is to evolve to one day grab a place in the elite.
“Being in the upper echelons gives us greater competitive maturity, in addition to the fact that we always learn a lot more from our elders. Reaching the first team is the dream of any player in Sporting’s youth team and, of course, it’s mine too. training, I’ve already been in some warm-ups before the games, I hope one day to be on the bench and, of course, to play too”, adds the promising under-20 international for Portugal, who stands out for his height (1.94 m).
With his eyes on the future, Adán is an unavoidable reference. “I admire him as a player and as a person. I’ve known him for two years, since the first time I was in the first team, he’s always helped me with everything and he’s been five stars with me. I ask him a lot of questions and he gives me a lot. advice. That’s why he’s one of the captains of the team and a reference for all of us. I hope in a few months to be even closer to him”, he admits.
Diogo Pinto’s renewal is the third of four anticipated by record in its February 2 edition, after Chermiti and Diogo Cabral. Next up should be midfielder Rodrigo Marquês.
