Happy morning in Malmö. Portugal faced Belgium, in a new duel counting for the group stage of the European Under-17 Championship, and won 1-0 in a dramatic duel.

Carlos Sacadura’s men looked super comfortable on the field against their Belgian counterpart, with great dominance throughout the match.

Portugal added several opportunities, but the biggest of all was a ball sent to the post by Francisca Castro that made us believe that the goal was possible. However, it didn’t happen.

Even after the break, the Portuguese offensive tone was practically the same, with Belgium making very little of themselves in the duel – let alone the new ball that hit the post, this time, shot by Carolina Tristão. Much unhappiness for Portugal until then.

Until the end, the quinas team did everything they could to reach the goal and that only happened in the last minutes. After two balls on the post, the third one was for good. Matilde Vaz crossed for Melanie Florentino and, when she appeared alone, she shot into the back of the Belgian goal’s net.

This is Portugal’s first victory at the Euros, after defeat in the debut against Spain. Following is the meeting with Poland on the 12th.
