The Conference League final is set! Olympiacos, with David Carmo, Daniel Podence, Chiquinho, André Horta and João Carvalho, surprised again, beating Aston Villa 2-0, with their goalscorer, El Kaabi, the best in the competition, and set up a meeting with Fiorentina.

Olympiacos had surprised by winning the 1st leg in England by 2-4, but now, everything was decided in Greece, where the Hellenic team was looking to seal their passage to the Conference League final and the English side of Aston Villa were looking for a comeback. On the Greek side, David Carmo, Daniel Podence and Chiquinho were starters.

Taking this disadvantage into account, as expected, Villa started trying to command, while Olympiacos tried to defend themselves and took advantage of this English balance in the attack to leave with space in the transition. It was in this way that the Greeks, in the 10th minute, reached 1-0, thanks to their goalscorer El Kaabi, in a move started by Podence. The villains were in even worse trouble.

With this disadvantage and without some important players, Aston Villa continued to dominate the game (they had 77% possession at one point) and managed to reach the final third with relative ease, especially on the wings, with Digne, of one side, and Bailey, on the other, highlighted. However, he was quite inconsequential and practically limited himself to making crosses, which were well cleared by the Greek defense.

Going to the locker rooms did little to change the dynamics of the game. Unai Emery’s men continued to insist and the entry of Jhon Durán brought a little more life to the left wing. McGinn was being the team’s main driving force and Tzolakis finally began to be truly tested, but he was showing himself well between the posts.

Time passed and the mission became increasingly impossible for Villa, but Olympiacos delivered the final blow in the 78th minute. Goalkeeper Tzolakis himself kicked a ball behind the opponent’s defense and found, on the right, goalscorer El Kaabi, who started from there and only stopped to celebrate the 2-0. Olympiacos ended up winning 6-2 on aggregate over the two games and set up a meeting with Fiorentina in the Conference final, scheduled for May 29th.
