Bayer Leverkusen and Atalanta will discuss the final of the Europa League, after eliminating Roma and Marseille, respectively, in the second leg of the competition’s semi-finals this Thursday.

After winning 2-0 in the first leg, the Germans saw the Romans draw the tie, with two goals from Leandro Paredes, in the 43rd and 66th minutes, both from penalties, but they ended up benefiting from an own goal by Gianluca Mancini, at the 82, and a goal from Josip Stanisic, at 90+7, to confirm qualification for the decision.

Still without any defeat in 49 official games this season, Bayer Leverkusen, already crowned German champions, secured the third European final in their history, after the defeat in the 2001/02 Champions League and the victory of the 1987/88 UEFA Cup.

Atalanta, who eliminated Sporting in the round of 16, will play in the final of a European competition for the first time, following their 3-0 victory against Marseille, Benfica’s executioner in the quarters.

Lookman, in the 30th minute, Ruggeri, in the 52nd, and El Bilal Touré, in the 90+5, ensured the victory for the Transalpine team, who had drawn 1-1 in the first leg, in France.

The Europa League final is scheduled for May 22, in Dublin, at 8:00 pm (Lisbon time).
