THE Renault announced this Tuesday that it is the first car brand to integrate Waze, a road navigation application used around the world, into its cars’ multimedia system.

As announced by the French brand, Waze is now available on the 100% electric Austral and Mégane E-Tech models. Integration is done through the OpenR Link multimedia system with integrated Google.

To use Waze, drivers of these Renault models will only have to download and install the app directly from Google Play, available in the car’s OpenR Link system or the My Renault application.

“Without using the smartphone, the driver has access to real-time traffic information, favorite routes and destinations saved on the screen. All other features and music remain available even if Waze is activated. There is no need for a smartphone or USB cable”, informs the Gallic brand in a statement.

Aaron Di Castro, director of marketing and partnerships at Waze, also revealed that the company’s goal is to bring its application to as many drivers as possible around the world, starting in 2023. Are there more partnerships on the horizon?
