O Google Photos regularly receives new features to improve users’ experience with the photos and videos they take, and one of the most interesting is probably the service’s search capability, which allows you to view images with specific objects, places or people, exactly as the user would. for a text search.
THE Google expanded that functionality with the ability to find similar results on the web by introducing a shortcut to Google Lens, but now it looks like the company is aiming to change how this image search tool operates in Google Photos.
Some users have noticed that the Google Lens button on the bottom bar of the Google Photos image viewer has been replaced with a new generic search button. This new tool can detect people’s faces in photos and perform a reverse search.
That is, its function is similar to the one already available in the three-dot menu in the upper right corner, but it is probably more immediate to touch the image of the person you want to search for.
Google Photos gets a cool new search feature
Anyway, you can still quickly switch to Google Lens and tap on other objects and parts of the image to see if the tool can give you more information about them, as it has done until now.
At the moment, it looks like this new Google Photos search experience is part of a limited test only available to a select few users, and so we can only hope for a wider rollout, and if the test turns out to be positive.
