Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra could be exclusive to South Korea

-

After rumors about the arrival of an Ultra version for the Galaxy Z Fold 6 line have cooled down in recent days, new information suggests that Samsung should, in fact, announce a more advanced option for its series of foldables — but that few will be able to buy .

The information was released by the GalaxyClub portal, which had on hand the supposed model number of a new Samsung device: SM-F958N. From there, it is possible to make some assumptions about the smartphone.

The most important of these is the appearance of the number 8 as the last digit in the sequence, which historically symbolizes the “Ultra” nomenclature. For reference, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is labeled SM-S928, for example.

Furthermore, the ending with the letter N means that the device in question should only be launched in South Korea. Models with other endings may still appear in databases, but have not been found so far.

Therefore, the supposed exclusivity for the Korean market may only be a temporary phenomenon, as the device would still be in the development and registration process.

Another possibility is that Samsung prioritizes its homeland, and leaves the launch of the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra in other countries for later months. However, this alternative is less likely, as it is not something commonly done by the company.

Even so, research has already shown that South Korea is one of the countries where foldables have the strongest sales performance, and therefore the company could see the launch of the Ultra there as a more coherent strategic decision.

Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra could come later

A third hypothesis is that the Galaxy Z Fold 6 Ultra would be in later stages of development compared to other cell phones in the foldable line, as Samsung would aim to launch it in a different cycle in a few months. This way, it would be possible to keep your flexible screen cell phones more relevant in the press and among consumers for longer.

This possibility is consistent with what the most recent rumors have reported, in which the Galaxy Z Fold 6 line would be announced with a new FE model, but without the Ultra.

So far, it is not known exactly what the differences between the Ultra model and the traditional Galaxy Z Fold 6 would be. But it is possible that the product will have a more reinforced construction using titanium, a Gorilla Glass Armor screen with anti-reflective material and better cameras.

The most advanced device should also feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, as is expected for the Z Fold 6. In turn, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 FE would come with a less expensive platform for the brand — perhaps one of the new Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 or Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 3 —, and with performance closer to intermediate devices.

A specific date for the launch of Samsung’s new foldable cell phones has not yet been announced, but they are expected to arrive at the next Unpacked event, which should take place in July. On the same occasion, the company is still expected to make its Galaxy Ring smart ring official, after having previously revealed the product.
