X can launch communities with adult content

AX is working on a new content format for communities, existing within its platform, which would allow the publication of content focused on adults.

X communities are small groups that focus on discussing certain topics – something like Reddit, but integrated directly with X. The functionality has been a focus of attention for the platform in recent times, but it seems that, now, Elon Musk intends to put a new topic up for debate on this platform.

According to https://twitter.com/DongWookChung2/status/1773457456531677280 discoveries in the X source code, the platform is considering launching a new system of communities focused on adult themes, particularly with NSFW content. This type of content would be automatically identified by X’s systems, but could also be configured by community administrators, allowing the creation of small groups for this content.

It should be noted that adult content is allowed within X, but it is not published in several sections of the platform – and this content tends not to be widely recommended. The creation of communities would allow simpler and faster access to this topic.

It should be remembered that Communities were created even before Elon Musk acquired the platform, with initial tests starting in 2021. The idea would be to create more focused conversation groups, on different topics.

Although the functionality was never focused on NSFW content, the platform already allowed these types of content to be published in certain areas of the platform – albeit in a limited way.

At the moment the changes have only been identified in the X code, and it is still unknown when they would become accessible to all users.
