FIt was on April 24, 1990 that the Hubble Space Telescope was launched, beginning a mission that has lasted 34 years.
With today’s anniversary, Hubble researchers have decided to release a new photograph of the galaxy known as Messier 76 – located around 3,400 light-years away from Earth.
Scientists believe that the strange shape of this galaxy is due to the death of a star, a process that affected a secondary star and resulted in the strange shape of the dust and gas.
More than that, the image is a demonstration of what Hubble has allowed the scientific community and how it has helped us see more of the galaxies that surround us. Now accompanied by the James Webb Space Telescope, it is likely that Hubble will continue to provide similar photographs at least until the end of this decade.
