Reinforcing rumors about Microsoft’s strong bet on Windows On ARM, several tests that would belong to the consumer versions of the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 were found in the Geekbench 6 database, showing that both should have variants equipped with the Snapdragon X family. In addition to the robust performance, which competes with some of the best chips from AMD, Apple and Intel, the records are surprising when they indicate that the new Snapdragon

The machines were seen by different sources, including renowned leaker Roland Quandtand go by the identifiers “OEMBR OEMBR”, equipped with what appears to be the most complete Snapdragon X Elite (model X1E-80-100) with 12 cores, and the surprise “OEMMN OEMMN”, equipped with the recently announced Snapdragon X Plus 10-core (model X1P-64-100) — both codenames are in line with previous generations of the Surface family.

Another interesting aspect is that, in some of the registrations, the platform appears listed as “Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3”, a premium processor from the last generation, despite the specifications being in line with the X Elite and X Plus. It is likely that this is a strategy on the part of Microsoft itself to not attract curious people to the benchmarks, which in fact went unnoticed for a long time.

Featuring high power, as the numbers released by Qualcomm already indicated, the records bring some more interesting details, starting with the very existence of versions with the X Plus. A simplified new generation solution, the component is intended to offer the unprecedented features of the Snapdragon X family in lower-priced packages, signaling that Microsoft should offer more affordable options for the new Surface.

More interesting is the RAM capacity, set at 16 GB in all results, which reinforces rumors related to Windows 11 24H2, expected to change requirements to require a minimum of 16 GB of RAM.

The reason would be in the new Artificial Intelligence functions, including “AI Explorer”, a turbocharged version of the file explorer that would work as a kind of Copilot, but with greater integration into the system and better understanding of natural language.

Qualcomm’s platforms, and a possible variant with an OLED screen, would be the highlight of the devices, which have already been announced in versions aimed at companies equipped with Intel Core Ultra chips.

While the Surface Pro 10 draws attention for the flexibility of its tablet format, bright screen and improved webcam, the Surface Laptop 6 has as its differentials the traditional notebook format in premium construction, greater energy for processing and different display sizes in 13.5 and 15 inches.

According to rumors, it’s not long before we get to know the new Surfaces in consumer edition and equipped with Snapdragon — the devices would be presented behind closed doors on May 20th before hitting stores. New leaks should better clarify the situation with the devices until then.
