5 applications suggested by Pplware readers for Mac

-

Following our section of suggested applications for macOS, our readers spoke out and left us some good tips. These are the ones we make available to everyone today. Your Mac in good hands!

When you have the best tools, work flows better, the result is influenced by the quality of the service provided by the software. And time… the most important thing is the time you save to do everything properly. To do this, let's look at 5 more applications left, this time, by our readers.

Today we don't have a specific topic, but they are tools that can be very useful.

1 – Lightweight PDF

This suggestion is precious. With Lightweight PDF, you can reduce the file size of your scanned PDF documents by up to 90%. And as you can see in the image, the tool has a simple drag and drop interface.

These types of applications are ideal for those who, from time to time, need to “slim” a PDF for a variety of purposes. The result, unlike other programs, maintains an ideal balance between file size and quality. And most importantly, you don't have to upload your files to some sly online service, keeping your confidential documents offline and private.

In a footnote, it should be noted that the developers of this app are Portuguese.

2 – Upscayl

How many times do we need an image, but its size is ridiculously small and compromises our ambitions? And how many times have we grabbed that image, resized it, increased its size, and the result is terrible?

Surely many times and it is something that this new generation of tools based on Artificial Intelligence can help with. As such, Upscayl was suggested to us.

Upscayl is designed to tackle the age-old problem of image resolution. It doesn't just enlarge your images, the tool uses sophisticated AI technology to make them clearer, sharper, and more detailed. With Upscayl, you can transform low-resolution images into high-resolution wonders without compromising quality.

In terms of price, if you download via the developer's website, it's free.

3 – Keka

This application appeared a few years ago and its developer, Jorge Garcia Ameno, accepted our help in translating this fantastic tool in 2010. It has since become a mandatory application for many users.

We know that there are several tools to zip and unzip files on macOS. The Keka tool is one of the most popular and also one that guarantees support for a wide variety of format choices.

This application allows you to compress files in the following formats: 7z, Zip, Tar, Gzip, Bzip2. Keka also allows you to decompress files in the following formats: RAR, 7z, LZMA, Zip, Tar, Gzip, Bzip2, ISO, EXE, CAB, PAX, ACE (PPC).

Very simple to use and one of our “must have” kit tools.

4 – Mounty

Mounty is a simple tool for mounting NTFS volumes in read-write mode. Sometimes, with this diversity of machines and operating systems, we need to connect a USB stick or external disk mounted on an NTFS file system to our Mac.

Reformatting does not help, as HFS+ formatted drives are not readable on regular Windows PCs. Furthermore, FAT32 also doesn't help when the file size is more than 2 GB.

So, this is where Mounty comes in. This “crowbar” uses the built-in capability of macOS and does not install any additional drivers. This makes Mounty a small and handy utility for your daily file sharing workflow.

5 – Rectangle

Whenever you do multitasking With many applications open, you need to have all windows organized accordingly. Okay, it's a kind of obsessive-compulsive behavior... I'd say it's organization. Therefore, Rectangle fits like a glove here.

This application was suggested instead of the paid Magnet app (also very effective). However, for simple things, Rectangle allows, with a simple drag to the edge of the screen, the tool to scale any application to half the screen. And by dragging your windows to corners, you can fit them into rooms.

All commands can also be triggered using keyboard shortcuts. You can find a predefined set of hotkeys in the menu bar icon, or create a set that suits your habits.

Okay, now it's your turn. We still have a handful of good suggestions from you, but leave in the comments what you use to make life easier on macOS.
