Bloomberg journalist says that Apple Vision Pro could take two years before gaining a second generation; Apple’s “space computer” faces low sales

The Vision Pro is far from having the popularity desired by Apple, and with the public’s clear lack of interest in the company’s “space computer”, the manufacturer may take a few years to present a second generation of the product to consumers.

This is what Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman says. In its most recent edition of Power On newsletterApple’s latest plans for the Vision Pro are said to not call for a second-generation model before the end of 2026.

Although the company is trying to figure out a way to release a cheaper version of the Vision Pro by then, Gurman cites that “Apple is still confused about exactly how to reduce the costs” of the product.

The journalist says this is excellent news for Meta, which recently presented its new HorizonOS operating system for virtual (VR) and augmented reality (AR) glasses with a strategic approach similar to Microsoft’s Windows and Google’s Android: every company will be able to use the platform on your devices if you wish.

What’s left for the Apple Vision Pro?

With a second generation expected to launch more than two years from now, Apple’s next steps for its mixed reality glasses could include launching the product in more countries and updates to the operating system.

To lessen the atmosphere of failure that already permeates the air in the United States, the company needs to internationalize the Apple Vision Pro by launching it in more locations such as the rest of America, Europe and Asia, especially.

There are rumors that Apple is working with Tencent to attract Chinese consumers at the launch of Vision Pro. The partnership is seen in a similar way to what was done with Disney in the US, but on a larger scale offering essential applications such as WeChat, QQ, Tencent Music and Tencent Video at launch — which would be essential for its sale in Asian markets.

In relation to visionOS 2, it is easy to predict that Apple should focus on improving current applications and functionalities, with the expansion of currently little-used features and the debut of new features that could justify the purchase of the equipment by more consumers.

Such news related to visionOS 2 will be announced during WWDC 2024, which will take place on June 10th.

Among the updates expected for all Apple platforms is the debut of the most powerful Siri with generative artificial intelligence integrated into the operating system natively for minimal internet dependency.

Future versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS and tvOS should bring visual changes inspired by the first generation visionOS with translucent and transparent elements for a homogeneous visual identity across all products.

More details related to Apple’s next products and operating systems should emerge in the coming weeks, so be sure to access FreeGameGuide and stay up to date with the main news!
