Huawei should once again focus on developing applications for the future version of its operating system, HarmonyOS Next.

The company’s CEO, Yu Chengdong, recently stated that Huawei needs to focus more on the HarmonyOS software environment before it can release the stable version of the system in a broader format.

According to the executive, the final stable version of HarmonyOS Next should only be released when its ecosystem also has enough applications for users to be able to take advantage of its features.

This is because, unlike previous versions, HarmonyOS Next will not be compatible with Android applications. In other words, users need to have their application base available in order to make the best possible use of the system.

Huawei is expected to focus considerably more on developing its application ecosystem over the next few months, with events focused on developers and revealing new features to them.

One of the company’s next planned events will be HDC2024, which is scheduled to take place in June this year.
