Huawei close to US independence? Pura 70 has 90% Chinese components

-

Huawei launched its Pura 70 series and, according to a new report, which analyzed this new addition to the company’s catalogue, 90% of the components are already Chinese. Is Huawei emancipating itself from the United States of America (USA)?

Recently, Japanese research firm Formalhaut Techno Solution carried out an analysis of the Huawei Pura 70 series and found that 90% of the components belong to Chinese suppliers. This fact does not apply, however, to the Ultra variants.

The Pura 70 is the latest series to arrive in Huawei’s smartphone catalog. The Formalhaut Techno Solution report indicates that the Pura 70, Pro and Pro+ are mainly equipped with Chinese parts, such as processors, screens, frames, batteries and lenses. The list of suppliers is as follows:

  • OFILM
  • HNLens Technology
  • Goertek
  • Sunny Optical
  • BOE
  • Goodix Technology
  • Crystal Optoelectronics

On the other hand, the research company that analyzed the Pura highlights that the 70 Ultra includes Sony’s main camera and the Kirin 9010.

As mentioned by Huawei Central, these findings that around 90% of the components in the Pura 70 series are of Chinese origin seem to indicate that Huawei will be close to independence from US technology, using 100% Chinese parts and production for its devices.

Although experts believe that Chinese companies are already capable of manufacturing many parts for smartphones without any foreign equipment, the topic of high-end processors and excellent cameras is slightly different.

For this reason, Huawei and its Chinese partners are trying to develop solutions to match. In fact, the research company TrendForce previously highlighted that Huawei is working hard to use national electronic parts in its smartphones.
