An ever better app.

O Google Photos continues to be improved with innovations that seek to make interacting with photos and videos more intuitive and personal. Among recent advances, the option “Improve your video” will soon automatically improve the quality of videos by adjusting brightness, contrast and even saturation with just a single click. This function greatly simplifies video editing and provides professional results that are accessible to all users.

While Google recently introduced artificial intelligence to better understand and predict which memories a user actually wants to revisit, Google Photos will soon allow users to reduce the frequency with which certain faces appear. The application, known for its almost infallible facial recognition capabilities, will soon be even more customizable.

Google Photos wants to become a tool that respects personal preferences more, allowing you to filter the faces you prefer to see less in the Memories sections, thanks to an option simply titled “Show less”. This feature is a much less aggressive alternative to the “Block Face” option, which completely removes faces from memories and group photos. In practice, the user will be able to add a face to the “Hide face from memories” section to limit its appearance in moments remembered by the application. However, it will still be possible to search for that person in the application.

“Hide face from memories” is coming to Google Photos

The development of this feature began when some users expressed the need to control the emotional aspect associated with their photos. Specifically, this option is accessible through the Photos application Settings > Preferences > Memories > Hide people and pets. Although this functionality is not yet available to the vast majority of people, as Google is still testing it, the truth is that it has already appeared in my personal account.

These improvements clearly show Google Photos’ direction towards an application that not only stores photos, but enriches and organizes them according to our preferences, which evolve with our emotions.
