  • WhatsApp is the most used messaging platform in the world;
  • Search filters is the latest addition that will allow you to ’empty’ your storage
  • The update is now available in beta versions and will be officially released in a matter of days.

O Whatsappthe most popular messaging application in the world, is about to receive an important new feature: the reformulation of the very important section storage. With the next update, the Meta platform will be equipped with search filters. This addition significantly simplifies the identification of conversations that are taking up the most space, as well as the consumption of channels (if you use them).

Surely, from time to time, you find yourself having to clean your smartphone because you’re running out of space. Probably the first thing you do is delete photos and videos you have on WhatsApp. Although it’s not exactly the application’s fault, the volume of videos, photos and files we receive every day is undeniable. Fortunately, WhatsApp already offers options for managing space, as well as continuing to improve its interface to make this tedious task easier.

Until now, a simple “Search” button allowed you to view the space occupied by each conversation, offering the possibility of cleaning multimedia files during the space freeing process. With the latest update, the “Search” functionality remains, however, now accompanied by filter buttons, making the search more detailed and intuitive.

As reported by

WaBetaInfo and confirmed in tests with the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, the filter buttons allow you to segment the space occupied by “All”, “Conversations” and “Channels”. This makes it possible to quickly identify which conversations require the most attention, as those that consume the most space will be displayed at the top.

New arrivals in the next few days

When you select the “All” option, WhatsApp will display the storage occupied by all conversations, including private chats, groups and channels. If you choose “Chats”, only the space occupied by private and group conversations will be displayed. If you choose “Channels” you will receive specific information about the channels you are subscribed to.

Given that channels are generally less likely to be maintained, we can quickly determine whether they are worth keeping or, at the very least, emptying them. This new WhatsApp storage management feature is now available in beta versions for both iOS and Android. Therefore, it is expected that it will not be long before it becomes available to all users.
