If everything goes as expected, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 should arrive with several performance improvements. One of the highlights of this processor will be the new Oryon CPU, which should have the same optimizations that are found in the Snapdragon X Elite.
The model should arrive with improvements in terms of efficiency, but also in terms of final performance, and this can also be seen in terms of the processor’s operating clock itself.
According to leaker Digital Chat Station, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 can reach a clock speed of up to 4 GHz, with efficiency-focused cores reaching 3.6 GHz. This value will be much higher than previous generations, where for comparison, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a maximum clock speed of 3.3 GHz.
The architecture of the next model should be based on the “2+6” format, which indicates the existence of two performance cores, with six efficiency cores. The leaker points out how the future model must feature a simplification of the architecture, but which could translate into a considerable increase in final performance.
If we take all the information into account, it is possible that the final performance of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will even surpass Apple’s chip, namely the A18 Pro, which is planned for the iPhone 16 Pro.
As for the first devices equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, they are expected to start appearing in mid-October 2024.
