The pilot Douglas Nunes Andreatta, only 18 years old, died yesterday in an accident during the 3rd Stage of the North Motocross Cup, held in Itabirinha, a city in the interior of Minas Gerais.
The young man suffered a fall at the beginning of the race and was surrounded by at least seven other competitors. The moment was captured by people watching the event.
When completing a maneuver after passing over a hill, Douglas was unable to maintain control of his motorcycle and fell headlong into the terrain.
Immediately, one of the pilots who was less seriously involved in the accident ran towards Douglas, who was lying on the dirt track.
Noticing the state of the young man’s body, he despaired and asked for help from people who were around. The 18-year-old pilot, however, succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
In an official note, the organization of the event regretted the accident. “The Guerra Cross team, in the person of its director Marcelo Guerra, comes to the public to regret, with deep pain, the accident that cost the life of a young man with a great future ahead of him. Douglas was a pilot who grew up in our midst, participating of our events and today he unfortunately left us. May God comfort the hearts of his family and friends”, published the Copa Norte page.
the city hall of Itabirinha also manifested and declared three days of official mourning for the death of Douglas, a native of Colatina (ES).
