The Public Ministry of the State of Acre (MP-AC) decided to open a criminal investigation against military personnel involved in an assault on micro-entrepreneur Francisco Bezerra, a resident of Baixada da Sobral, in early September this year. The order was published in the edition of the Electronic Diary this Thursday, 22.
At the time, the man sought the press to report that he was the target of an approach with abuse of power by soldiers of the Military Police of the State of Acre (PM-AC). According to the victim, at the time of the approach he was in the Boa União neighborhood, when a team stopped and began the aggression. Bezerra said he was threatened with death by the military.

According to prosecutor Maria de Fátima Roberto Teixeira, after becoming aware of the on the ac24horas news sitejournalistic article containing video of a police approach carried out by the military police in activity in the Boa União neighborhood, in this, in this municipality of Rio Branco-AC, reporting that the man approached was physically assaulted and threatened with death, decided to take action.
The controlling body pointed out that in addition to the aggressions, the police would have entered the residence without authorization and deleted the videos from the DVR device and a computer.
Teixeira took into account the content of the statements made by the victim in the specialized prosecutor’s office, being in the online form by videoconference, having reported practices of misconduct by public agents in activity. Therefore, the MP decided to open a criminal investigation. “Decides to institute criminal investigation procedure, in order to investigate the circumstances of the facts mentioned above, in order to, in the end, if necessary, promote criminal action or the filing of the case”, reads an excerpt from the order.
Regarding the facts narrated, the Internal Affairs Department of the Military Police reported that it had instituted its own procedure to investigate the complaints.
