American rapper Coolio, who rose to global fame with the song ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ from the soundtrack to the movie “Dangerous Minds”, was found dead on the bathroom floor at a friend’s house in Los Angeles, United States. The information was provided by the musician’s agent, Jarez Posey, to the American press. The cause of death was not disclosed. The musician was 59 years old. It was precisely with ‘Gangsta’s Paradise’ that the rapper won the Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance in 1996.

Reactions to Coolio’s death – whose name was Artis Leon Ivey Jr. – are already multiplying on social networks. Actress Michelle Pfeiffer, who starred in the 1995 film and participated in the music video with the rapper, reacted with a publication on her Instagram account. “I am heartbroken to hear of the death of the great artist Coolio,” wrote the actress.

“A life cut short too soon. As you know, I was lucky enough to have worked with him on the movie ‘Dangerous Minds’ in 1995. He won a Grammy for the brilliant song he did for the soundtrack – I think that’s why movie was so successful. I remember he was never anything but graceful. 30 years later and I still get goosebumps when I listen to the song”.

Rapper, producer and actor Ice Cube also reacted on social media: “It’s sad news. I’ve witnessed this man’s rise to the top of the industry up close.”
