The National Health Council (CNS) deeply regrets the death of Arnaldo Marcolino da Silva Filho, activist, professor, militant in defense of the Unified Health System, former national health counselor and former member of the Intersectoral Health Commission of the Worker and Worker (Cistt) of the CNS. Arnaldo passed away early this Wednesday (15/11), aged 72.

A tireless defender of workers’ health, Arnaldo Marcolino was a member of the first team of the Reference Center for Worker’s Health in São Paulo (Cerest/SP), state health advisor and coordinator of plenary meetings for the State of São Paulo and was currently part of the national board of the Inter-Union Department for Studies and Research on Health and Work Environments (Diesat).

He actively participated in the construction of several health conferences in the states and was part of the rapporteurship of the 14th National Health Conference. He assisted in almost all training processes in Social Control of the Administrative Function of the State of São Paulo, with special emphasis on his contributions and attractions in the Municipal Health Council of São Paulo, State Health Council of São Paulo. She also assisted in setting up the Intersectoral Working Groups on Sanitary Surveillance, Pharmacoepidemiology and Immunizations, in the representativeness of the Workers’ and Workers’ Health Surveillance in São Paulo.

An important activist in the black movement, in the quilombola community and national leader of the Black Peoples, Arnaldo also had his career marked by his strong work with community radio stations, spaces where he took agendas related to the health of male and female workers. He was a presenter, announcer and broadcaster for the Radial Workers Union of São Paulo, with passages on TV Excelsior, TV Tupi, SBT and TV Globo. At the Union, he was coordinator of the Permanent Policies Commission, better known as the Health Commission.
He leaves his wife Ivone, children Lucas, Mariana and Tamiris, and granddaughters Manuella, Neasa and Maria Luiza. For the National Health Council, he will be forever remembered for his humanitarian nature and legitimate concern for the life, well-being and health of all workers in our country.
