The Civil Police is investigating the death of Portela composer Roberto de Aquino Leite, known as Beto Aquino, found dead inside his apartment in Copacabana, in the south zone of Rio de Janeiro, on the afternoon of last Monday (5).
According to the 12th DP (Copacabana), an expertise was carried out inside the property. Witnesses were heard and the body was sent to the IML (Legal Medical Institute) to determine the cause of death.
According to the victim’s daughter-in-law, the composer and a man had been in a relationship for a few months. She says that the duo arrived at Beto’s property last Sunday around 7:30 pm. Security cameras show that, at 11 pm, the suspect left with a backpack, purse and suitcase. Since then, he has not been seen again.
After the building’s doorman reported that he wasn’t answering the intercom, Roberto’s family went to the scene and found him lifeless lying in bed. In addition, they found that belongings such as cell phone, wallet, house key and jewelry were gone.
In a note, Portela lamented the death of the musician, who was two-time champion of the Carioca Carnival for the association.
