The driver of a truck loaded with fuel was charred after the vehicle rolled over and caught fire. The accident happened on Rua da Estrada, close to the Anel Rodoviário, in the Goiânia neighborhood, Northeast Region of Belo Horizonte.
Houses close to the site were also set on fire because of the spreading flames. According to the Fire Department, at least Seven residents were injured in the accident.
A woman jumped from the window of her house to escape from the flames and was rescued by her own neighbors. She was taken to João XXIII hospital.
A TV Globoone of the residents said that she was at the window when she saw the truck skidding.
“I heard a bang and everything was on fire, the flames spread in seconds. I only had time to grab my son and run”, said confectioner Jane Gomes.
Seven fire department vehicles responded to the scene. Military Police teams also helped to isolate the area. A video shows the height of the flames that spread across the street (see below).

Another resident said that heard someone shouting fire. When she opened the door, she saw the moment the tank burst and burned the houses around the crash site.
“I just thought about rescuing the children. My daughter managed to get through the window, but my grandson couldn’t. The neighbors broke the wall to rescue him”, said Euber William.
The neighboring neighborhoods, Goiânia and Maria Goretti, were left without electricity. Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais (Cemig) also operates at the site.
