Civil Police are searching in Minas for suspects in the death of a drug dealer’s brother, Fernadinho Beira-Mar’s right-hand man

The Civil Police are looking for who killed the brother of Roni Peixoto, a drug dealer from Minas Gerais murdered in 2022, and considered Fernadinho Beira-Mar’s right-hand man. Cleiton Peixoto was with four other people in a bar in Belo Horizonte, this Sunday, according to a report from CBN. The Civil Police are investigating whether the crime was linked to drug trafficking.

At around 7 pm, Cleiton was with three other friends in a bar in the Tupi neighborhood, north of Belo Horizonte, when the suspects arrived on two motorcycles and shot the four men.

In addition to Cleiton Peixoto, his friend, Carlos Eduardo, aged 46, also died at the scene. Two other victims, a 53-year-old man and a 36-year-old man, were also shot and rescued. According to the Police, the two men who suffered injuries were taken to the Risoleta Tolentino Neves Hospital and, according to CBN’s findings, there is no risk of death.

According to Major Marco Tulio Carneiro, from the PM, the connection between the case and drug trafficking and a fight recorded hours earlier on a football field is still being investigated.

The Military Police reported that Cleiton, Roni’s brother, murdered this Sunday, was president of the Associação Atlética Tupinense. On social media, the club changed its profile photo with the “mourning” stamp.

Cleiton Peixoto de Souza, 49, was the brother of one of the biggest drug traffickers in Minas Gerais, Roni Peixoto, who was shot dead in Santa Luzia, in the Metropolitan Region of BH, in April 2022. Roni’s body was found inside a a car. At the time, according to the PM, the drug dealer was entering the garage of his house when he was approached by two hooded men. The suspects stopped the car he was in, identified themselves as civil police officers and shot.

Known as Fernandinho Beira-Mar’s right-hand man in Minas, Roni worked in the capital, mainly in Pedreira Prado Lopes, in the Northwest Region, and throughout the Metropolitan Region.

To date, none of those involved have been arrested. The case remains under investigation.
