O electric car 0km it became more expensive in the Brazilian market. The average value of these vehicles increased by 19.7% in February 2024 compared to the previous month.

As a result, the average price of 100% battery-powered models was R$466,842. The value is above hybrid vehicles (R$ 421,714) and combustion vehicles (R$ 270,926).

The data is part of the report Acrefi (National Association of Credit, Financing and Investment Institutions), in partnership with Cox Automotiveand obtained exclusively by THIS IS MONEY.

“We started 2024 with an expectation of rising prices for hybrids and electric vehicles due to the return of Import Tax collection. The arrival of luxury electric cars on the Brazilian market contributed to this trend, directly impacting the average price of new electric vehicles”, says Filipe Pena, executive director of Acrefi.

Hybrid and combustion cars

The research also points out that the average price of hybrid vehicles, which rose 3.49% in January, showed a slight drop (-0.58%) in February, in monthly comparisons.

On the other hand, combustion models registered an increase of 2.24% from January to February this year.

From 2021 to 2024

The Acrefi survey also analyzed the price of brand new vehicles from January 2021 to February 2024.

During this period, however, electric models showed a 10% drop, while hybrid cars recorded an 8% increase.

Combustion models experienced growth of 31%, representing an increase of 2 percentage points compared to January.

It is worth highlighting that the data are presented in a context of accumulated inflation of 23.33%.

Fees

Another highlight from Acrefi is in relation to Selic, in which it points out that the prospects are positive for falls in the interest rate for automotive financing.

“In addition, there is also the new Legal Framework for Guarantees, sanctioned in October 2023, which establishes the repossession of goods extrajudicially when the consumer is in default. This process is faster and more efficient, improving guarantees and boosting the credit market.”
