Two deaths and several minor injuries are the result of a serious road accident that occurred this morning on the road connecting Espargos – Santa Maria due to a collision between a bus and a light van.
According to information collected at the scene, the two bodies are those of the occupants of the van, which has yet to be determined, but which is said to be rented, and authorities are currently at the scene trying to identify the victims.
The accident happened on the outskirts of Murdeira, close to the place where a driver had lost his life after being run over by another last November.
It should also be noted that the bus was carrying more than 40 people who were going to work in hotels in the city of Santa Maria, who only suffered minor injuries, with only the driver being transported to the hotel.
Information from one of the victims of the accident states that the two cars started to catch fire shortly after the collision, meaning they were unable to help the victims who were in the light van.
