A man caused an accident after escaping from a psychiatric center and taking a truck from a construction material store, in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, in the south of the state. The case was registered this Thursday morning (28).
According to information from the State Department of Health (Sesa), the patient was waiting for treatment in the triage sector of the Aristides Alexandre Campos Psychiatric Care Center (CAPAAC), in the Monte Cristo neighborhood, when he began to become agitated and suddenly fled the scene.
Once outside the clinic, the patient got into a truck belonging to a construction material store in the neighborhood. The scene was seen by the owner of the establishment, Adailton Fontoura. According to him, the company’s driver had just parked in front of the store’s warehouse, as he always does, when the manager saw that an unknown person had entered the vehicle.
As Adailton reports, the employee ran towards the truck to ask the man to get out, but the patient repeatedly said that the vehicle was his and drove off through the streets of the neighborhood. He only stopped when he hit another vehicle, on a street parallel to the construction material store.
Sesa informs that the patient was taken back to the clinic, where he was treated and is under observation. There is no information whether other people were injured in the accident.
