ANDIn a statement, the National Maritime Authority informs that the search for the 43-year-old diver “will resume early this afternoon as soon as meteorological and oceanographic conditions allow.”
“In the search operations, coordinated by the Port Captain and local commander of the Maritime Police of Praia da Vitória and Angra, crew members from the Praia da Vitória and Angra Lifeguard Station and elements of the local Command of the Maritime Police of Praia will be involved. da Vitória, in Terceira, supported by a boat, as well as a group of voluntary amateur divers from the island’s nautical clubs”, reads the statement.
The National Maritime Authority states that “the Maritime Police Psychology Office has been activated” and is “providing support to the victim’s family and friends”.
“According to what was possible to ascertain, the man was practicing diving and did not return to land”, adds the National Maritime Authority.
The search for the diver was interrupted on Sunday afternoon due to weather conditions and should have been resumed this morning, but the weather and sea conditions have not yet allowed it.
The alert of the disappearance was given by a friend of the victim, informing that the man had not returned after diving.
