Fernando de Noronha had a rainy day, this Monday (1st), with flight cancellations, queues and complaints from airport customers. The problem occurred with passengers from the two companies that operate on the island, Azul Linhas Aéreas and Voepass.

On Sunday (31), Voepass canceled a flight that would leave from Noronha to Fortaleza, with a stop in Natal. Until the end of this Monday afternoon (1st), customers still did not know when they would leave the island.

“We are adrift without knowing when we will return. This is absurd, it is a lack of respect for high-paying customers. We don’t have any assistance, we don’t know what will happen. The government, the local administration, needs to take action regarding this company”, said Pedro Adjedan.

Public servant Gabriela Dantas, who is from Belo Horizonte, was also unable to return on the Voepass flight. She was going to Natal (RN) and missed the connection to return home.

“I think it’s a total lack of respect, I’ve already complained to several bodies. It’s a lack of security. I feel like I’m in an open-air prison, I’m in a place I can’t get out of. This is illegal restraint, it is a type of false imprisonment, it is a violation of human rights”, said Gabriela Dantas.

Azul’s last flight, which was scheduled to depart late this Monday afternoon (1st) from Fernando de Noronha to Recife, was also cancelled. Passengers said they received information that there were technical problems with the aircraft.

Businessman Walquer Silva Oliveira, who is from São Paulo, had his flight cancelled. “I’m devastated, I have commitments and now I have to wait. I’m still waiting to find out when I can return”, said the businessman.

Financial agent Thais Amorim, who is also from São Paulo, did not continue traveling due to the cancellation and was worried.

“I think it’s terrible. I can’t take off, I don’t know if I’ll harm myself at work. Now I depend on the company and my boss”, said Thais.

Azul informed in a note that, due to technical issues, flight AD4091 (Fernando de Noronha – Recife) had to be canceled.

“The company highlights that customers are receiving all necessary assistance, as provided for in resolution 400 of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac) and will be reaccommodated on other flights. Azul regrets any inconvenience caused to customers and reinforces that actions like this are necessary to guarantee the safety of its operations, a fundamental value for Azul”, indicated the note.

Voepass reported that the flight that would depart from Fernando de Noronha to the cities of Natal and Fortaleza on Sunday afternoon (31) was canceled for meteorological reasons.

“Due to the capacity of local accommodation, it was not possible to serve all passengers. The company reaccommodated customers on an extra flight for Tuesday (2), which will depart from Fortaleza to Fernando de Noronha, at 5:50 am and from Ilha for Christmas, at 9am” said the note.

The Administration of Fernando de Noronha informed that Voepass was notified once and that it will be notified again due to the problems.
