Micael da Silva Rodrigues is 18 years old and two months ago he suffered a serious accident. The young man was riding a bicycle when he fell into a hole on Marciano Antunes Street, located in the Copacabana neighborhood, in Lages. Due to his injuries, he was in serious condition and needed to be intubated in the hospital.
Two months after the accident, Micael is recovering at home, with the help of his family. Still on a liquid diet, the young man lost 34kg after spending 30 days in the ICU and has difficulty moving and episodes of forgetfulness due to the severe blow to the head.
In conversation with reporter Gabriel Senem from Rádio Clube de Lages, Catarina, Micael’s mother, reports that the family is going through a delicate moment.
“We’ve already spent what we had and what we didn’t have! I’m also selling raffle tickets to help. This month my husband and I won’t have a payment and we’re going to fall behind on the rent. So we never imagined going through what we are going through. Social assistance helped at the beginning with a basic food basket.”
Still in an interview, Catarina asks for help from the community with donations to continue Micael’s recovery and support the other three children who live in the residence.
“We need mineral water, milk, yogurt, fruits, vegetables. The baby also needs diapers. Micael drinks around 3 liters of milk a day, in smoothies and smoothies and eats every 2 hours. All the food is blended in the blender because he cannot chew it.”
